School Funding 101 Forum
School Funding 101 Forum
The Merrimack Valley School District hosted a presentation by John Tobin and Doug Hall on the topic of New Hampshire’s education funding system on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 5:45 pm at the Merrimack Valley High School (auditorium).
This program, developed by the attorneys John Tobin and Andru Volinsky, who sued the state over education funding in the Claremont case more than 25 years ago, and by former Republican representative Doug Hall, who is an expert on school finance, has been presented in more than 20 forums and meetings across New Hampshire since last summer. Their intention is to educate the general public about what has long been seen as a complicated funding system resulting in inequities for students across the state, as well as for property taxpayers.
Attendees learned how the MVSD communities compare to other towns and cities in NH in their ability to raise educational funds.
